icf2010 yahoogroup posting etiquette Please try to follow these rules to help improve readability and searchability. I picked these up from another website, and I modified it slightly. I have had some members email me privately to complain about this issue. *** Search the group if possible before firing off a post. There are certain topics which come up from time to time and a little bit of research (look at the links section, files section etc.) will answer most of the standard questions. The search feature on Yahoo groups is poor, but please try to make some effort! *** Remember to trim posts After repeated replies, a message can end up very long, so it's a good idea to trim obsolete material from the bottom of your email before sending. This enhances the clarity of your message and saves bandwidth. It's a controversial topic whether repliers should post new material at the top or bottom. Let's keep it consistent for a particular thread though. *** Use meaningful subject lines It is courteous to use a subject line that allows other members to have an idea of what the post is about. If people get a lot of email, they may not have time to open and read every email, so the subject line can help them decide. If you reply from a digest, please make sure you change the Subject line since it is not going to be meaningful. *** Proof read your post for clarity, spelling and grammar A poorly spelt and structured email with a number of obvious grammatical errors will make you look bad, and may confuse or irritate recipients. We have to give some leeway to non-English speakers/writers here, being a world-wide radio group. *** THINK before posting The immediacy of email means that you can fire off an irate, insulting or even slanderous reply very quickly and easily. Hitting the "send" button too quickly is an action that many have resoundingly regretted. Before sending, take a deep breath and make sure you really want to say what you said. *** Commercial activity It is OK to buy/sell this radio on the group. This group generally not meant for sales of other radios though swap requests should be OK. Repeated posts of a commercial nature will result in deletion of the posts and subsequent banning from the group. You should be up front about the price and condition of the item if you are selling on the group. There are no hard and fast rules regarding commercial activity, please exercise good judgement and common sense in this regard.
